Thyme to Cook

Accessibility

Last updated 2 October 2026. Everything on this page is true today.

We want everyone to be able to cook with Thyme to Cook. This is what the app does now:

Everything has a name

Every icon-only control in the phone app carries a VoiceOver label, and a build gate refuses to ship one that does not. Cook Mode in particular is designed to be driven without looking at the screen.

Your text size is honoured

Type scales with the system setting throughout, rather than being pinned to a fixed size. Nothing is drawn as a picture of text.

Colour is never the only signal

A dietary warning says what it found in words and names the ingredient. Contrast is checked against a palette gate in both light and dark appearance.

Motion can be turned off

The app reads Reduce Motion and drops its animations when it is on.

Cooking hands-free

Cook Mode takes voice commands for the next step, the previous step, and timers, so a recipe can be followed without touching a screen.

This website

It uses real headings, landmarks and links, works with the keyboard, shows a visible focus ring, follows your text-size setting, respects Reduce Motion and light or dark appearance, and doesn’t put text in pictures.

Tell us about a barrier

If something in the app or on this site is hard to use, write to hello@thymetocook.co. Tell us what you were trying to do and what assistive technology you use. A person reads every message.
